First and foremost I want to thank God for making me the man I
am today, Keith "Suede" DosReis Jr.
The word "party" invokes images of a place filled with fly
women and men, dope gear, pulsating beats, lyrics spitting and
champagne flowing. In the thick of this is the DJ,
representing to the fullest. But when the party ain't as hot
as it should be or the show ain't as hype as the promoters
said when you bought that expensive ticket - then that's when
the "host" needs to bring life to the scene. A true host
brings the party to its climax over and over again. They have
to keep bringing it. The host is the "Crowd Motivator." And
that's the only way to describe Brooklyn's Keith "Suede"
DosReis, Jr.
Growing up in Brownsville, Brooklyn Keith was destined to rock
an audience. He started his career in entertainment at the
tender age of 5. Keith would bring the house down in his
kindergarten plays and used to bring a little record player to
auditions to imitate Michael Jackson, plaid suit and all. He
appeared in 16 commercials, two of them with the legendary
Bill Cosby. Although commercials were fun and lucrative,
Keith's love is with the live audience. Keith says, "Its just
something about making the crowd move - motivating excitement
in people that didn't even know they could get wild" Always
present with the hype gear, Keith DosReis Jr. picked up the
name "Suede" when he attended an interest group meeting to
pledge Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity at SUNY Albany. Keith showed
up in a suede suit and the name stayed with him throughout his
pledge period. He played a leadership role in the fraternity
and organized and hosted some of the hypest campus events in
the schools history.
Fast forwarding through years of building, Suede became the
national host and spokesman for the first national collegiate
step show tournament, "StepCorrect." He brings a unique style
to the job of "host" primarily because he understands his
audience.
This knowledge allows him to interact and connect with each
and every person in the crowd. Suede maintains, "I want
everyone to feel like I'm talking to them ... everyone needs
to feel special". Suede has toured the nation with the show
and has vibed with spectators on the East coast, west coast,
Midwest, dirty south– and now international fans after his
tour in the Caribbean. "It don't matter where I am, I'm going
to make sure that if you paid your money - your going to see a
show". Suede’s success has lead him to grace the stage of
crowds exceeding 15,000 students, TV and video show
appearances, voice promo's for Funkmaster flex and guest host
Summer Jam 2004 for New York's Hot 97’s radio station, the
college poster-boy spot for Dame Dash’s Team Roc clothing
line, and a college hit song called “The Greek Anthem”. Suede
is becoming a sought after personality to host events
throughout the New York Tri-state area and colleges
nationwide. Hosting events throughout the country has lead
Suede to manage artists which was a natural outgrowth of his
entrepreneurial and managerial experience from his days at HBO
Sports. "I was always a student of music," Suede says. I'm
constantly in contact with new artists and I feel like every
young Black artist should have the advantage of good
management." Even with all these creative outlets at his
disposal, Suede stays focused and remembers why he's gotten to
where he is. "I motivate people," he says passionately. “My
true love is making life pulsate from the audience when the
mic is in my hand". |
